Do not wash eggs before storing. The shell has a natural protective layer that protects against bacteria. Wash them only before use.
Place the eggs with the tip down. This way the air bubble stays on top and prevents the yolk from drying out.
Check the date on the package. Even with proper storage, eggs should not be kept for more than 3–4 weeks after purchase.
Don’t leave them out of the refrigerator for long. At room temperature, the spoilage process accelerates many times over.
How to tell if an egg is fresh
A little trick from experienced housewives:
Place the egg in a glass of water.
If it sinks and stays on the bottom, it is fresh.
If it stands up or starts to float, it’s better not to use it.
