When I was a kid, I had a little wooden rocking chair in my room. I don’t remember using it, but my parents thought it was a nice enough decoration for our new home. I remember feeling strange at night in that new house, and the feeling that someone was watching me was very strong.
A few years after we moved in, I was sitting on my bed reading when suddenly music started playing. I looked over and saw the little wooden chair rocking – it turned out to be a music box, which I never suspected.
I ran to my parents and yelled at them, but they laughed and said, “You must have pushed it while it was playing.” But I knew that I had been on the bed the whole time and that the chair had moved on its own.

My brother, who we’ll call Steve, had a fiancĂ©e named Samantha and a son. One day Samantha started locking her phone, coming home late, and showing all the signs of cheating.
One weekend she said she was going to a work event about 250 miles away and would be staying at a motel there. Steve got suspicious and decided to call the room late that night around 1 a.m. A person answered â it was our other brotherâŠ

I found out my husband was cheating on me. I told my parents I was leaving him. My mother said, âAll men cheat, donât ruin your sonâs life!â My father was silent. I stayed that way.
A few days later, I went to pick up my son from school, and the child was missing. Then I got a call from my father. It turned out that he had taken me with him to an apartment he had rented and invited me to join them.
When I arrived, my father looked at me and said, âThis is the beginning of your new life.â He supported my decision to leave my husband and refused to allow his daughter to live in misery with a cheating man. With his help, I filed for divorce.
Now I am happier and more at peace than ever. Thank you, Dad. You saved me.
Once I decided to order a birthday present for my daughter â she loves old boxes and glitter. I found an ordinary one at a garage sale â with a ballerina on the front and very cheap. I wrapped it up beautifully and gave it to her.
My daughter unwrapped it and froze it. The box was not just an antique â it was a rare item, it even had some kind of foreign stamp.
In the evening we searched the Internet and found out that it was worth as much as my car! Collectors started writing to us with offers for crazy money. My daughter hid it under the bed, saying: âI need it.â
Now I sit and wonder whether to sell it or keep it. What if it is cursed, like in those movies?

5 years ago I had a date. The guy I was supposed to meet didn’t show up. I sat alone for an hour, holding back my tears amidst the pitiful looks of others. The waiter who served me smiled sweetly and tried to cheer me up.
Imagine my surprise when that same waiter, now dressed in civilian clothes, sat down at my table and said: “My shift is over. Now we can have a date.”
Surprisingly, that date turned out to be the best I’ve ever had. And the waiter turned out to be the most wonderful person I’ve ever met in my life. Now, in our fourth year of marriage, I’m even more confident in this.

I decided to surprise my boyfriend: romance, candles, dinner. I rented an apartment for a few days so we could have dinner in a beautiful place. I arrived early, prepared everything, and waited for him.
Then the doorbell rang. I opened it, and there stood an elderly woman who immediately said, âWho are you? This is my apartment!â I was speechless.
It turned out that the ownerâher sonâhad rented the apartment without her knowledge, while she had been living in a country house. And he didnât even tell her. We called himâhe didnât pick up the phone. Imagine the picture: me in a dress, candles, roses, food.
And the woman in the middle of this romantic hell said, âWell, since youâre here, letâs at least have dinner together!â And in the end, the three of usâme, my boyfriend, and herâate her meatballs. The guy later said that it was the most unusual dinner of his life.
By the way, the old woman turned out to be a great person!

I have a master’s degree in art history and I love talking about art. Luckily, my husband loves to learn. A few years ago, we were at the Louvre and I started talking about a painting I had painted on.
I was talking quite deeply when someone behind me asked a question. I turned around and there were about a dozen people behind me. They thought I was an English-speaking tour guide.

I was driving on the highway, not paying attention to the world around me. Suddenly I saw a car stopped in the emergency lane.
The driver, a woman of about 40-50 years old, was standing behind the barrier and passionately playing the accordion and singing. There was no traffic jam or anything like that, she just suddenly had the desire to play music. On the highway. Alone.

I was sorting through my parents’ old drawers – you know, cleaning. Suddenly I found a bunch of letters, beautifully tied with a ribbon. I thought: “What romance?” I opened them, and there were the handwriting of my father, who has been gone for a long time. But the letters were not to my mother, but to another woman.
I was reading them, and my hands were shaking. He wrote to her such words that my ears burned. Just so you understand, my father was an ordinary man in tracksuits.
It turned out that he had a great love before my mother. She left him, but he never forgot her. In his letters, even after marrying my mother, he wrote that he still remembered her!
It was like seeing a completely different person. Now I sit and wonder whether to throw the letters away or keep them. What if my mother finds them? But maybe she knew and didn’t say anything. It’s sad.

One night I was bored, so I entered a contest in Seventeen magazine and actually won. I had to submit a quote about how I manage my time wisely and a photo of myself. I won $500 and appeared in a Playtex (tampon) commercial. My family laughed about it for months and showed the commercial to almost everyone.

Once a man saved me from a gang of hooligans â a very handsome man. We never saw each other again. Nothing remained with me except a bag and a bouquet of flowers from him. Years passed.
I got married, had children. One day I found the same bag. In a side pocket I found a note from that man: “If you feel the same way, call me.” And a phone number.

I never understood why my real father hated my stepmother’s sister. Eventually my real mother told me that my stepmother’s sister cheated on my father. She presented my stepmother to my father as a consolation prize.
And I have to keep all of this a secret from my stepmother.

When I was in college, I was watching my parents’ house. I’m a bit of a creep, so I locked every bedroom door before I went to sleep. One night I had a strange dream: someone was unlocking every door and turning on all the lights. I felt cold and woke up to my dog ââbarking.
When I got up, I saw that all the lights in the house were on and all the doors were open and unlocked. The dog kept barking at something in the hallway. I got scared and spent the night in the bathroom with the dog and my phone, terrified.

I ended my 10-year marriage over a medicine cabinet. We were at a coworker’s birthday partyâall the couples were there, celebrating. My husband had a headache and asked for a pill. The coworker’s wife brought their medicine cabinetâand I was shocked. Everything was organized, labeled, clean.
My husband said, “Wow, our place is a complete mess.” And I exploded. I run a business, and he doesn’t even have a steady job, and he’s always nagging meâI don’t cook enough, I don’t clean enough, I’m raising my child “wrong.” That little remark about the medicine cabinet was the last straw.
